Statement from Coach Wichert:

Our program is built on high expectations, positive behavior, and competitive spirit. Track and Field is special in that everyone can find something to get better at and compete in. Whether it is competing with yourself to reach a certain mark or with other people, you can always find some way to be competitive in this sport. My staff serves as uplifting role models and skilled technical coaches. We will compete with pride in the things that we do because that is what will be expected of our students when they leave here. My message to students is this: Do whatever you do with a sense of pride in your work. That doesn’t mean to be a prideful person. It means to take pride in your work ethic because it is the best. Be positive with your approach assuming that you will get better and you will achieve your goals. Expect growth and put in the work. My staff and I are here to help you grow as a student-athlete so that you can take these skills with you after graduation. We also are often the best outfitted team in the school which is always a perk. Go Govs!
