Shawn Wichert

Shawn Wichert is the Head Track & Field Coach at WBHS. Wichert has years of experience as a coach in both football and track.

Coach Wichert has coached at Heritage, Kingston, and William Blount. In his first stop at William Blount, he coached running backs for football and was an assistant track coach. He spent one year at Kingston before returning to Blount County in 2015 and becoming the Head Track & Field Coach at Heritage. Wichert has coached a state runner-up in discus and shot put; he has also coached a state champion in high jump. In 2019, he coached an All-State pentathlete.

Shawn was also the Head Boys Basketball Coach at Carpenters Elementary for one season. Coach Wichert has coaching experience in high school, middle school, and elementary school.

Shawn is an English teacher at William Blount. During his free time, Shawn enjoys golf, piano, rock climbing, reading, team trivia, and basketball. Shawn also published a novel in 2018.
