Record Year for WB Wrestling

The William Blount wrestling team had four state placers at the TSSAA State Wrestling Tournament held at the Williamson County Agricultural Expo Center on February 18th-20th.  The school has previously had multiple placers on two occasions (1985 and 1998) placing two in each year.  Sophomore, Calvin Martin made it through to the finals and lost to defending state champion, TJ Hicks from Bradley Central to place second.  Senior, Nolan Kennedy fought his way back through the consolation rounds after losing to the state champion in the quarters to place fourth.  Sophomore, Dawson Satterfield placed sixth after losing a close semi-final match.  Senior, Daisy Martin placed sixth after dislocating her elbow and having to leave via ambulance in the semi-final round.  She was unable to wrestle in the medal rounds due to her injury.  She is the first female wrestler from Blount County to compete in a state tournament.  Congratulations to these individuals and their coaches!
