Govs Travel to Oakland for First Playoff Game in 8 Years

The football team will travel to Murfreesboro on Friday for a match-up with No. 2 ranked Oakland.  The new format for the TSSAA “Super 32” 6A classification grants all teams in that classification a playoff birth.  Although the regular season did not go exactly as planned, the opportunity to advance in the post-season is now upon the Govs.  One rational for the system is based on the level of competition of theses schools.  There are 345 schools in the state that have a football team.  William Blount has played two teams in the top 10, five teams in the top 50, and eight teams in the top 100.  At the conclusion of the regular season, the Govs have now played seven teams with a .500 or better record.  The last playoff appearance for William Blount was in  2007.
